The National Citizens’ Council on Climate, a new citizens’ assembly in the Netherlands, was held for the first time last week. It hopes to come up with answers to the question: “How can we, as the Netherlands, eat, use things and travel in a way that is better for the climate?”
The assembly is made up of 175 people of different ages and backgrounds, and gives them the opportunity to directly shape climate policy, as the groups’ recommendations will be presented to the House of Representatives.
